Love, Rosie: timing of love

Today, I watched Love, Rosie with my friend, Irene Kim.

The school finished early and exams were over, so we just wanted to hang out outside of school. Our original plan was to watch The Hunger Games, but it was already unavailable in the theatre. The best choice we’ve gotten was Love, Rosie.
I’ve seen a lot of trailers of Love, Rosie because the theme of the movie, which is a bitter-sweet love story of childhood friends. After watching the trailers, I decided not to watch the movie, since it seemed like a typical American pregnancy-before-marriage drama.

I was totally wrong. Well first of all, the movie is English, not American.
Love, Rosie is about a girl and a boy, who are childhood friends, and find out that they have romantic feelings for each other, but always end up with somebody else to make each other jealous, or to forget the other. Whenever the male character, Alex confesses his love to the female character, Rosie (I’m sure you all probably guesses her name.), she is with somebody else, believing that she is happy with her life. Same situations happen to Rosie. They eventually get together, but they wasted 12 years.

Despite the lame storyline, small humorous jokes and relationships among characters make the movie interesting. Audience was filled with romantic atmosphere of the movie and laugh within the scenes. My favorite line of the movie was when Rosie went to the emergency room to get the tampon out of her vagina, and the doctor said, “Hi, my name is Dick.” Irene and I were laughing our heads off. It was a shame that we were the only ones understanding the joke. It was hillarious. Anyways inside jokes like this was what made the movie much more interesting.

One of the factors that attracted the audience was the actors. I’ve loved Lily Collins since I saw her in Abduction.

Her classic, elegant, and fascinating look caught my attention. She played the role of lovely Rosie in this movie and she fitted perfectly to the role. The only flaw that I detected was that she wouldn’t get old even though it was 12years later. She looked more like a sister of Katie (her daughter) than a mother.

Another actor, Sam Claflin, who played Alex was the charming British guy. I was so surprised that he played Finnick in The Hunger Games. I didn’t recognized him until I looked up on the Internet, even though I am a fan of The Hunger Games.

He was also perfect for the role. His British accent was sooooo attractive unlike the other British Alex in our class. (Soooo different Alex!) His smile tripled the charm. A thousand hearings are not worth one seeing!

Love, Rosie might not be the perfect directed movie, nor have the best storyline. However, the film touches you quietly yet so deeply. I recommend the movie, Love, Rosie to all of the girls around the world.

BTW I really don’t like romance movies, it’s hard to find me liking it unless it’s good.
